Because women my age need movie heroes too

Somebody just shared this with me: 20 iconic male movie roles in which Helen Mirren would have ruled.

I am here to say, if Helen Mirren were in any of these roles (except maybe Tootsie), I would immediately go and see her. I loved her in Red, which was otherwise a spotty piece of cinematic work. They should immediately re-make Red and put her in the Bruce Willis role and let her kidnap / rescue / charm & enamour the love interest, played by, oh, I don't know ... Ryan Reynolds. No, too provincial. Daniel Radcliffe! No, dammit, too young. Alan Rickman! Well, anyway. I would see it. Here she is, wearing boots and kicking butt.

She's magnificent. Takes no prisoners and looks like a dream in everything she does.

Mind you, if SHE'D played Voldemort, I'm afraid Harry wouldn't have stood a chance.

Hmmm....What if all the roles were reversed in an Alternate Universe?

Dahlra, stop that NOW. Like I've got time to launch into THAT sort of fic.

As if.

Not only does she kick butt... but she gives hope to we women "of a certain age". Have you seen this picture of her in a bikini at age 62? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1036785/What-men-REALLY-think--Helen-Mirren-bikini-62.html I hope I can look that good.

She's a hero of mine, too.

No silicon, no facelifts - a strong, capable, talented, intelligent woman of grace and integrity who reminds us all that you don't have to look like a barbie doll to be magnificently attractive.

In a world that worships youth and throws any woman over 40 on the scrapheap both intellectually or appearance wise, she's a role model for us all.

You don't have to accept it - tell them all to naff off and shine!

Loved the idea of her playing Voldemort - I agree, Harry wouldn't have stood a chance.
