There's an ass for every seat, as they say in the car business. I'll bet someone would buy it on e-bay; some people have a feeling of nostalgia for the seventies. I lived through them, too, so I don't get what was supposed to be so damned charming about that time period. I dated someone who wore a LEISURE SUIT, forfuckssake! I had Farrah wings in my hair! Oh, the horror....
Scaling back Christmas is easy if you do it a little at a time. First thing to go was all extraneous decorations except for the tree (which was actually a decorated hibiscus!). Second was the concept of a decorated tree. Third was scaling gifts down to one apiece, and eventually to none. Cards phased themselves out, as we only sent them if people sent them first. Christmas dinner, sadly was a victim of attrition: the relatives were all old and eventually died. There is just no reason to do it for the two of us. It is more stress than either of us need. We already are very anxious people.
