Fannishness
This has been going around the journals, so I thought I'd take a crack at it. Prepare to be edified!
First TV show I had self-insertion fantasies about:
Hey, you young people? Just skip to the next question. Thanks! ...Are they gone? Okay. The rest of you, take your mind back, back, back ...
to 1971, and the live-action Saturday morning show H.R. Pufinstuf. The main character was a boy named Jimmy (who was also the Artful Dodger in Oliver!). I was fiercely in love with Jimmy, and would re-imagine every episode with me in it as Jimmy's partner in adventure.

Here he is. Wasn't he dreamy?
First fandom in which I interacted with other fans:
It must have been Star Trek: Next Generation. I was excited to find like-minded fans on AOL's bulletin boards in the mid-90s.
Pairing in the first slash fanfiction I read:
Harry/Draco, but I don't remember the author. I stumbled across it at random on the internet - never before knew such a thing was being written! (You'd think I would have run across stuff like that on AOL. Hmm.)
First RPS/RPF I read:
I've never heard of this! Thank goodness for Google.
First fanfiction I read that made me think, 'YES, this is exactly the kind of fanfiction I'd like to write...':
teddyradiator's Spellbreaker, for sure. I know that sounds brown-nosey, but it's just a historical fact.
First time I remember getting really turned on by a fic:
The first time? Well, that Harry/Draco thing was very hot ...
First OTP:
Hearkening back to my ST:TNG days, I was deeply committed to the pairing of Deanna Troi and Lt. Worf. I know, right? What was I thinking? But I can't exactly take the high ground on the matter, because here I am today, actively jealous of Nymphadora Tonks because my dear Lupin went and married her on some misguided impulse, even though she is clearly all wrong for him ... etc.
First RPS/F OTP:
Again, I've never heard of RPF! You really put real people together in a fiction? Like Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin? Seems weirdly invasive. And yes, I know how ironic that sounds.
First fannish friend I met in person:
I've never met a fannish friend in real life, unless you count RL friends who also happened to keep up with the sci-fi shows I watch. I assume you mean a deeper fannishness than that. And the answer is never.
First character I formally roleplayed:
I think it was Mary Poppins, and I was seven. I put on all my best, practically-perfect clothes - black tights and pointy shoes, some wool dress, a coat, gloves, a little hat, and! most crucially! an umbrella! I would "fly" around the house and then swoop down on some unsuspecting soul. Oftentimes I would quote the movie or stare disapprovingly. Sometimes I would sing. It was serious business; those who laughed would get stared at most disapprovingly.
What do you think?

Alasdair Gillis
Adam Reid
(or, you know, the young Paul McCartney...)
Yep, some of the first TV crushes I remember were from that gripping drama, You Can't Do That on Television.
Oh me.
(Y'know, though, I wound up marrying a Canadian... hmmm...)
