Champagne Thursdays

There was a date movie once, fairly cute, where one of the secondary characters popped open a bottle of champagne for no other reason than it was Thursday.

For some reason, that idea has stuck with me - a little celebration for no other reason than because I want one.

On Thursdays nowadays, I've been getting in the habit of doing nice things for myself. The groom and the girl drive to her music lesson during the dinner hour, so nobody's expecting me at home like usual. Last week I went to a friend's house. Sometimes it's the book store.

Tonight I got a hair makeover! I splurged and went to a real salon, and a nice, professional girl who wasn't trained by Supercuts spent about an hour on me. It's actually no shorter, but it's thinned out and blow-dried within an inch of its life, and it's sleek and pretty and smells all girly ... I feel like a new woman! I should start laying in those smallish bottles of champagne around here, just for Thursdays.

OMG! I do the same sort of thing on Thursdays, only I call it my "Muse date". I have a canister filled with little slips of paper on which are written destinations that I want to visit or things that i want to do. Each Thursday, I pick one. Today it was a walk on my favorite woods. Sometimes it is a used book store or a thrift shop. The only criteria is that it must be something that I think is fun. There are rules: It is only about fun. NO ERRANDS. And no one else may come along. Sometimes these dates are uneventful. But usually, Magic happens. I heartily recommend these dates with one's Muse; they are one of the high points of my week!

Champagne Thursdays sound lovely!!! Sometimes "me" time is the best ever. And if you haven't ever - try a Bellini. Makes the champagne special. :)

This sounds like a great tradition in the making! I used to do a similar thing on the day my son used to go to pre-school when he was little, but I fell out of the habit when he got older.
