Top eight reasons why I need a vacation:
8) I'm trying to learn a new (to me) statistical software program at work.
7) I am making no headway on same.
6) Without the statistical program, I don't have hope of putting together a report which analyzes mounds and mounds of census data.
5) Whenever I float the idea of having someone more knowledgeable than me crunch the numbers so I can then write up the narrative of the results so the report can get done before, oh, say, the Second Coming of Christ, I am roundly, soundly vetoed, leading me to suspect that
4) My boss covertly took on this project with our client just to force me to learn a software program, which, if true, means the client had better have no due date because it's going to take me substantially longer to write it than is decent amongst hard-working people with integrity.
3) And because I find it rather hilarious that a software incompetent like me has been put in charge of writing this supposedly-crucial report, I have begun to wonder (not for the first time in my life, make of that what you will) if everything I know about reality is false and I am actually a character in somebody else's work of fiction.
2) It's July, and I've spent maybe ten hours total out of doors so far this summer, and half of that was garden-related and shouldn't count.
1) My kid came home from orchestra camp and asked, "What did you do while I was gone?" And I said, "Oh, I had a great week! I worked ..."
So it's a good thing we're leaving tomorrow, eh? :-D
