Five minutes behind the universe
Jun. 26th, 2011 11:56 pmToday it felt as if I was constantly running late. I dropped a friend off at dress rehearsal - ten minutes late. Went grocery shopping, then ran late to get to that same friend's concert. Oh, and was late picking up the people who were supposed to go with me. Afterward, I was supposed to pick up my daughter from a reunion of her fellow camp counselors - and I was late for that.
If I could convey to you one impression of this day, it would be me, all clenched up behind the wheel of my whiny little Toyota, listening to Three Doors Down, driving too fast on surface streets and cursing every red light. Oy!

I was laughing at myself the other day, as I've moved from the city to a hamlet just outside of a smallish regional city/town that has the grand total of about 15 traffic lights all up.
I have to go through 2 whole sets to get to the shops, and I found myself cursing after copping red lights at both of them. If this had happened in the capital city I used to live in, I wouldn't have thought anything of it... how soon we forget!
It takes less than five minutes to drive from one end of the town to the other (about 12 minutes if you catch the three red lights along the main street) and I still manage to have days where I'm running late!
