My poor husband. So far, December is kicking his ass. It started with a trip to Emergency, and wound up yesterday with a painful tooth extraction. He's on antibiotics and pain meds galore. And he has to sing in a concert this weekend, so he can't even really rest for a while.

This morning, he gave the green light to putting up our artificial tree. He vastly prefers a real tree, and most years he shamelessly plays the "World's Biggest Kid About Christmas" card in order to get one. The fact that he let go of his beloved tradition without a fight speaks volumes. He wants to simplify the rest of the month, and I'm so glad to hear it.

What we need is a ceremony to formally banish the demons of moderately inconvenient health. But how? We're agnostic suburbanites who get all our knowledge of metaphysics from back episodes of Supernatural. We are quite unfamiliar with calling down the spirit. Maybe start a fire in the barbecue, burn rosemary smudges, make up an incantation, chant over the victim and ritualistically dose him with vitamin-packed kale smoothies?

Perhaps a cleansing of negative forces using that panacea for all negativity - chocolate!

If you're feeling saucy, it could entail the painting on, then ritual cleaning of glyphs from each other using chocolate body paint :P

yikes. i hope your hubby is better soon. giving up the real tree for the fake one - must be serious!

the only thing i came up with for your ritual is "don rubber gloves ..." lol. sorry. i feel i ought to do better, lol. oh, garlic is healthy, so you could sprinkle garlic powder to ward off the evil moderately inconvenient health demons, lol.
