The history of the Ouija board was really interesting. I'd heard that the name was a combination of oui and ja (French and German words for yes) but didn't know whether it was true or not. I like the story that the board named itself MUCH better :) I'd forgotten it appeared in The Exorcist. IMO the creepiest Ouija board appearance is in Stephen King's The Stand, the first time Nadine uses one (the second time, you already know what's coming!).

Edit: I knew almost all the fic slang, but am happy to have learned the term "curtain-fic" :D
