I just posted something kind of snarky about my preferences in the fandom, but after some reflection, I decided to take it down. People write what they're gonna write, and nobody really needs to know what I personally prefer unless there's a giftfest involved. My own needs and wants should remain in my head, and next time I yearn for a fic with particular characters and certain tropes (or avoidance of certain tropes), you good people should cordially invite me to write the damn thing myself.

I'm feeling much better today--back to my usual, snarky self. I even mowed the lawn and I was happy to do it! It's spring and my little yard has not yet begun to feel the effects of the West Coast's drought. Everything is still pretty and green for now.

Spaghetti marinara and four-bean salad for dinner, followed by the long-awaited Age of Ultron.

Oh, I dunno about that. I've personally drawn things when I've seen friends write about things they'd like to see. I guess it depends on the delivery but I don't necessarily see anything wrong with it. (Although, I don't know how snarky you were. ;)

Still green? I'm letting my lawn go brown this year... Again. It's already turning brown. I'm still going to water my bonsai, no matter what. And there is nothing left for my family to cut down for water usage short of giving up flushing toilets entirely, wearing dirty clothes and not bathing. I only do clothes and dishes with full loads and already started using the "pee, let it be" method of flushing to save water. We even shower every other day, unless it's really hot and we're gross sweaty. There is nothing left to cut and yet they are still demanding we cut something. Where?

The bottom line is that if you are posting on your LJ about your preferences, it's your own LJ and you can write whatever you want. I really don't see any harm in voicing what you like. Besides, there could be someone out there on on f-list who might be brewing up a fic that's exactly what you are yearning for.

Or your post could even inspire someone to write the fic you have in your head.

So you live in drought country too, eh? Yeah, the lawn is still green from the spring rains. But we don't intend to water the grass itself, so by July it will look depressing. We will continue to water most of the plants and a little tree that's currently struggling for self-identity.
