An oops and an update
Over the weekend, I got inspired and wrote my little 1k-word
dramionelove promptfest piece in one sitting. But when I went to check the submission terms again, it seems I forgot an important point: the story must be written from either Draco's or Hermione's POV. My story is written in the POV of a third character. Rookie move! Hell's bells! HOW many fests have I written for?
Anyway, I'm still really excited about the thing I wrote. I'll probably do the same story line for the fest, but tell it from Draco's perspective. When the fest is over, I can put up both stories as companion pieces.
Guest room update: Brought in a spare dresser, boxed up one solid metric ton of YA novels and cleared the bookshelf. On Sunday, with the room empty except for two fairly light pieces of furniture, it was time to steam clean the carpet. Understand this carpet is a light shade of no particular color, installed 20 years ago when we first moved in. We are diligent about removing occasional stains, so it is still pretty clean except for the guest room, because there were years when you literally could not see the carpet for all the clothes and toys.
So the Groom and I were standing in the room, and he says, I have an idea, and I want to tell you so you'll shoot it down.
Me: Go on ...
Groom: Let's just rip out the carpet.
Me: Yes!!
So, uh ... we did.
Impulsive, I know, and it's going to mean a lot more work, but you have to know how badly we hate this carpet. Besides, the flooring is nice-looking hardwood that probably hasn't seen a full day's sunlight since the house was built. Besides-besides, in life, if you stop creatingmesses, that means you're dead, right?
In the coming days, we'll finish pulling up the tack strips, mop up the dust and then treat the wood to its first good rehab since 1965.

After this spring, only one room in our house will still have carpet, and that's ironically enough OUR guest bedroom. Eventually we'll get it ripped out, but our own bedroom is a priority. The cats have absolutely molested it, and it looks so awful we actually have a rug sitting on TOP of the carpet to hide it.
Can't wait to see your finished Dramione fic - so proud of you!
