Up until yesterday, I thought this guy Gordon Ramsay was a race car driver.  It turns out he's a chef on one of those food shows. Anyway, yesterday I saw a video of his technique for scrambled eggs. I made them this morning to rave reviews. So I'm like, hmm! Cooking food that actually tastes good! Perhaps this is an idea whose time has come here in the St. Gulik household.

My next inspiration: this video for meatballs. I like how he doesn't use pork sausage, which I'd previously thought was a requirement.

One of those food shows?

*boggles*

He is rather famous for telling failing restaurant owners what for (and in the UK version they don't even bleep that) try an episode of the US version of 'Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmare' on youtube. Hilarious.

He has two shows that are on BBC America. Gordon Ramsey's "F" Word Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. Check 'em out; I think you'll like them.

I'm embarrassed now - I've been looking around, and it seems he's popular. I never knew. We get BBC America, so I'll check out his show(s).

I didn't know who he was either, so don't feel too bad!

Don't be embarrassed - in the UK he's all over the TV programme, very hard to ignore. There was a time when I could watch him every single night of the week.

Here in the USA, he not only has Gordon Ramsay's F Word, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, and Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America every weekday afternoon, but he also has Kitchen Nightmares on ABC on Friday nights.

So it seems Chef Ramsay is working to be "all over the TV programme" on this side of the pond, too! LOL

I saw that meatball video this morning on Yahoo News and searched out the actual recipe. I am going to be trying that one!

Gordon Ramsey was known in the UK as the chef you love to hate. He can be a right aggressive arsehole, and tends to talk down to everyone. He used to be a footballer in the UK, then became a famous chef, then got on TV, but I generally don't like to watch him, because he can be a right prick.

But hey, if he does right by your eggs, I'll have to forgive him.

In addition to his "F Word" and "Nightmares" shows, he's done a holiday special for the Food Network that will probably be repeated sometime over the next 6 weeks or so.

He's a complete schmuck in that one, tho...it's done at his home with his kids, and his pet English bulldog, so no swearing! LOL

No swearing?

How did he ever survive??

I know, I was like, "Who IS this imposter, and what have you done with the REAL Gordon Ramsey????"

But having grown up in a family that bred English bulldogs, as soon as I saw that he owned one I knew that he's really all crust and bluster on the outside but really a marshmallow on the inside... LOL

Confession - I went through a very strange phase several years ago where I had a crush on Gordon Ramsay.

Bloody hell. I now question my sanity.

It was when he first became popular in the UK and he had so much energy and didn't suffer fools gladly - I liked that.

Now I just think he's a twat.

Agreed - a right twat. But his recipes are very good.

Personally, I like Nigella's food the best, it's mostly simple and very tasty, if a bit on the saturated fat side at times (I just substitute other things) and I can identify with the midnight raiding of the fridge for what's left!

Can I admit that I read this as "Mange is a debilitating, annoying, and excruciatingly painful condition for your pet" and wondered why you were talking about food? And I grew up around a brazilian Italians. o.O I need sleep.

Those meatballs look nice - Italian meatballs are a bit of a novelty over here - we make a lot of bolognese and marinara sauces over here, but no one I know makes meatballs, so I'll have to give this recipe a try.

Gordon-Ramsay-dictates style scrambled eggs came out beautifully for me the first time I tried. I've never been able to reproduce it. Then I realized I really just like American-style scrambled eggs (dryer texture) much better and the creamy, goopy stuff that technique produces doesn't do it for me.
