* Well, with great promotions come great responsibility. For the first time in my life, I am in a job where I have to work at home some evenings just to keep up. Normally, I would disapprove, except this is really a good opportunity, and ... um, they're paying me pretty well. On the downside, I'm reading nothing but reports on cauldron bottom thickness and the like. Dry as hell.

* Muchas smoochas to [livejournal.com profile] droxy and [livejournal.com profile] literaryspell for the cute blue dragons!

* One of the smallish posters left over from the birthday party is a close-up picture of Severus and Draco, with Hermione Granger hovering in the background. An inexplicable trio for a canon poster, wouldn't you say? However, it reminds me powerfully of one of my favorite triadfics, [livejournal.com profile] laurielover1912's  The Authority of Truth. So now it's up on my bulletin board where I can see it all the time, and nobody outside of my head (and now my flist) knows why.

There isn't a month in my life that hasnt involved writing caulron reports and specifications, but also reading those written by others, abd the folks that test them. Add to that the training needed to mine the metal and process that, which I don't do, and not on increasing cauleron sales and providing proactive maint.

This overtime will be come your new normal. I hope you dont get into peak periods where 14 hour days are the normal and working weekends is the new normal. I wish people would refuse to do this OT, as it fundamentally reduces one's hourly wage and takes away from doing other things. Excessive OT makes life really difficult, but theeople dont stop doing it. They are after that rare 10% chance at getting that next promotion.

Ha! It's funny how random occurrences remind us of stories etc. Thanks for mentioning that story. It started life as me trying to have a go at some bitchy Dramione but ended up ... somewhat differently. It is clearly virtually impossible for me to write a story without either Snape or Lucius. ;-)
