Dramione is definitely far from my OTP, but my spare time (I think I already told you) I am a validator for Hawthorn & Vine so I spend part of every other week in that world.

There are some interesting eighth-year themes that are common to that pairing. One I keep running into is Head Boy Must Room With Head Girl. Usually, the excuse is that Hermione and Draco have returned to finish their education, but oh no! What to do? All the beds are full! Before you know it, they are thrown together in their own cozy suite, where sparks fly and hilarity ensues.

To my way of thinking, this idea is almost as implausible as the Marriage Law.

There's a whole gigantic castle full of rooms. Why would Hogwarts administration ever be forced to make the Head Boy and Head Girl share quarters? Do you mean to tell me there's never been an instance where they were pressed for space and had to create makeshift accommodations? Not in the school's entire 1,100-year history?

And then there's the whole proximity issue. You stick two horny teenagers in close quarters, where they receive a 24-hour dose of the other's scent, naturally they're going to start wanting to shag like rabbits. It's a simple matter of phermones. You can't tell me a Hogwarts headmaster is not an expert on the matter. They've carefully segregated the male and female population for seven years - why stop now?

No, the only plausable explanation why the Head Boy and Head Girl would be allowed to share quarters at Hogwarts is because Someone is hoping that those two crazy kids will get to spawnin'.

Think about it.The best and brightest witch and wizard of their year, thrown together right in the start of their prime baby-making years? This is not the result of faulty space planning at Hogwarts - it's an insidious eugenics program!  The magical population must be regenerated!

Don't you think that would make a fantastic story? Hermione and Draco are inexplicably forced to room together ... Headmistress McGonagall is suspiciously sanguine about it ... gradually the two of them uncover a meddlesome plot at Hogwarts to bolster the species and produce genetically-superior magical babies through a careful breeding program. How far up does the conspiracy go? Can Hermione and Draco uncover the truth before they run out of condoms? And why does Narcissa look so smug? Tune in next time!

*snorts*

I only wrote one Dramione Head Girl/Head Boy story and that's because it was a request. And you know, I get more favs on that trope. I have no idea why. I hate it. It's terrible.

Hats off to you that you have to wade through the muck.

No school official (boarding or otherwise), would force those two to room together, especially within shagging distance.

River, if anyone could do justice to this story idea, it's you. Give it some thought, won't you?

the story i've written that's gotten the most favorites and such is a snape/hermione/lucius threesome that i never ever would have written (never in a million years!) except my beta at the time, karelia, requested it for her birthday. i still resent that out of all my stories, that is the most popular, lol.

Yes, why is this? Invariably, the story an author hates the most will get the most attention. *head desk* Consequently, the one you love will hear crickets.

LOL, explain this phenomena to me.

i would if i could. well - i guess sometimes it's got to do with the popularity of the pairing/threesome. all things being equal, stories about popular ships will always garner more comments and likes than less popular ones. beyond that, i dunno. well. sometimes the very things that make us like a story, because it's unusual in some way, might also be the things that make some people like it less, or maybe not 'get' it.

and that's really all i have to say about that, lol. *pats all my poor, unpopular, beloved only by me efforts*

LOL! You are killing me!

Ok, if it's eighth year we are talking about, perhaps there is no room because all of the rooms at the "inn" are full. That's an entire class of students whose education was disrupted in what would have been their seventh year.

...but if we must discuss implausible scenarios...I'm going to say there's no more room in the dorms. Hermione must therefore live in the dungeons with Snape...;)

It's a CASTLE! A magical castle, for that matter. There are hundreds of rooms! And how much space does a kid need? Convert a broom cupboard if you have to! Build a condo near Hagrid's hut! LOL

It's even more implausible if we remember that, as Head Boy, Percy still lived in Gryffindor Tower.

I should just write it after the Sooper Sekret Sekwul, and you should help. (It would be rude to ask you to commit to a Dramione until you see the summary.)

Cockroach! You DID read it! ::squeeeeee::

Brilliant. Somebody should write it.

I never really understood how Draco would ever become Head Boy, though. Child of known Death Eaters, part of the Inquisitorial Squad in OotP, generally an unpleasant troublemaker for most of his schooling. And this is coming from somebody who does, indeed, ship Dramione.

i have to agree with you on the implausibility, and therefore, your plot bunny is the only reasonable explanation. *nods*
