My aunt and uncle, my cousin and a bunch of her kids are all flying out to see us next month. The closer we get to their visit, the more I'm looking forward to it. I haven't seen my cousin in ... well, it has to have been over 22 years, since she has a 22-year-old son. Time flies.

Plans are coming slowly coming together. They will get in late and stay the night near my house. (Sadly, I don't have room for eight people unless they camp in the back yard! My aunt and uncle called dibs on our guest room. Everyone else will go to the hotel.) We might take them sight-seeing the next day, but I'm not sure whether to offer them the chance to tour our lovely yet understated city, or the world-famous City by the Bay. It sounds like a no-brainer, but there'll be lots of us and three cars. As far as driving goes, San Francisco is not for the faint of heart!

Heck, maybe I should look into renting a tour bus.

Anyway, after I hand them over to my brother, it sounds as though there'll be at least one more sight-seeing trip. Also a birthday bash--an inordinate number of us in this family have birthdays in June.

Ugh, no kidding. I avoid it whenever possible. I'd hate it no matter what, but I also drive stick, so. When we have a destination actually in the city we almost always take BART, and if we're, like, driving to Napa, I actually prefer to go round the east bay rather than try to drive through SF.

My gosh, San Francisco in a stick-shift. That's like the definition of asking for trouble! I don't blame you for skipping it.
