  • I'm on a holy mission to remove all memes and motivational posters from my personal Facebook feed. All I want to see on Facebook are my friends' own personal pictures, stories, and opinions on the day's news. I never noticed until now, how many American radio stations have FB accounts. I've probably clicked "Hide all from _____" a thousand times--and it has made a difference, truly!--but still they come, a never-ending avalanche of minions and Ram Dass quotes.

  • Meanwhile, on Tumblr, not only is my feed filled with memes, I subscribe to people who create them. I actively reblog them. That might make me kind of a hypocrite, or it might mean I want what I want, where I want it.

  • The rumor is, Netflix will announce the renewal of their series Sense8 on Saturday, August 8 (which is a significant date for the show's characters, not to get too spoilery). And speaking of Tumblr, I'm here to say if they don't renew this series, I predict Tumblr fangurls will have an absolute meltdown, me included.

  • So, my lawn is dead. Dead, dead, dead. Dead as folk music, as they used to say before Fleet Foxes Iron and Wine turned up. It's unbelievably depressing to look at--and of course, we look at it multiple times a day. What should be done with this expanse of dirt and yellow grass?

  • Groom and I are hosting the book club this Saturday. Last I heard, 18 people had committed to attending. Our little living room will be crammed to the limit. Why hasn't anyone invented bunk couches? You could stack two couches and seat twice as many people along one wall. Someone invent this, please! And send it to me before Saturday.

I want what I want, where I want it.

YES.

I ran into some "wahhhh sexism!" bullshit on Pinterest the other day, and I almost went into a rage. Not that I handle such things well on other social media, but it felt like a particular affront on Pinterest.

Um. Just to throw my own unwholesome thoughts in the mix. >_>

Bunk couches has to be one of the best ideas ever!

We have such a wealth of destinations on the internet. Websites should be used for what they do best.

Re: bunk couches, I've been puzzling how to get, and safely retain, visitors upon the top couch. But then I think hey, that will be the inventor's problem.

So, seriously, what are you going to do about your lawn? Let it hang out until the drought is over? Replant?

Everybody's lawn is dead here. Now that we are in a drought, our Subdivision's Association isn't able to bully us into watering/maintaining a lawn. But before the drought, we were going to have the whole thing redone. I suppose we will revisit that possibility once we have more water.

Now that TheHubs™ has made me a theatre widow for the forseeable future, I have Sense8 ready to watch. That is, after I finish doing all the work shit, and polishing off the latest podcast and doing more of my VocaliD recording. Never fear, though; I'm going to have lots of time to watch it. I'm going to be virtually on my on in the evenings until around mid-December

People here have done one of several things with their lawns: astroturf, rock gardens, having their dead grass painted green. For our part, my grandma's lawn is totally gone, and my mother plans on taking cuttings of my sister's ice plant to replace it.

Your book club reminds me the year's first meeting of my college sff club: 2 dozen young women crammed into a tiny library fit to seat 4 at most. And all of them willing and able to quote our feature film—The Princess Bride—word for word. Floors, desk, shelves, laps, and doorways were utilised to their maximum ability.

I'm thinking of a combination of rock garden and ice plant. It looks like a lot of work, though. Maybe we'll do it in stages.

I would have loved to quote Princess Bride with friends! I'm sure I could have held my own.

Our lawn is just going to stay brown, I think. We haven't the collective energy to plant it with something drought-tolerant, turn it into a rock garden, etc.

Our birch tree in the back yard is very sad for the lack of water.

I hear ya. At the end of the day, we're rather disinclined to do a great deal of landscaping. :-)
